About this product
Reading a script while looking straight into the lens is the entire trick of a teleprompter: the glass sits in front of the camera at an angle, the text is reflected up off it from a screen below, and the person on camera reads into the lens without their eyes drifting to the side. This unit is sold as a universal model, which in practice means it is built to carry a phone, a tablet, a small camera or a laptop as the text source, with a hood that keeps light from hitting the glass at the wrong angle and a cloth or flaps that stop room light from washing the reflection out. Because universal is the claim, take your own measurements before ordering. The first is the diameter of the lens you will shoot through, since the glass only works if the camera sits behind the beam splitter without vignetting, and a large prime may need a step ring or a bigger version of the rig. The second is the height and offset of the camera, because the bracket has to place the lens behind the glass at the right level. The third is the text device: a tablet reads bigger and brighter while a phone mounts faster and weighs less. What it will not do is turn a small camera into a broadcast setup, and on a very wide lens the edge of the glass can show.

Pros & cons
Pros
- Lets you read a script with your eyes on the lens, so the delivery stops looking like a read
- Accepts a phone, tablet, small camera or laptop as the text source instead of one fixed format
- Beam-splitter glass means the text is invisible to the camera and only the reader sees it
- Compact enough to keep in a camera bag for interviews and product videos
Cons
- Universal is a claim, not a measurement: lens diameter and camera height still have to be checked against the bracket
- A large-diameter prime lens may need a step ring or a bigger version of the rig
- On a very wide lens the edge of the glass can come into frame
- Text source brightness matters, so a dim phone screen is harder to read than a tablet at the same distance
