About this product

This is a Meshtastic node: it talks to other nodes directly over LoRa radio, forming a mesh that needs no SIM card, no router and no subscription. The card-shaped body carries a GPS receiver and an IP65 rating, so it can be carried outdoors and pinned to a pack or a vehicle. The part that decides whether it is usable is the band: 868MHz is the European ISM allocation, used across the EU and the UK. The United States uses 915MHz, and mainland China does not allocate 868MHz for this kind of use at all, so a node bought for Europe will not legally join a mesh there. Check your local rules and buy the regional variant that matches, and confirm with the seller which frequency the listed unit actually ships with, since the same model is sold in several band versions.

Pros & cons

Pros

  • Works without cellular coverage, SIM or subscription
  • GPS plus IP65 body suits hiking, farm and fleet tracking
  • Card format clips onto a pack or dash without extra housing
  • LoRa mesh relays messages between nodes, extending range hop by hop

Cons

  • 868MHz is the EU band: not legal for this use in mainland China and not the US band
  • Same model ships in several band versions, so confirm which one the listing sends
  • Mesh range depends on other nodes being nearby; a single unit talks to almost nobody
  • No cellular fallback, so it cannot be used as a standalone tracker from anywhere
