About this product

These are 120mm addressable-RGB case fans sold as a kit, with a mirror-style light ring and PWM speed control across a range of roughly 800 to 2000rpm. The one thing that decides whether this kit works in your build is the lighting connector: addressable RGB runs on 5V with a three-pin connector, while the older plain RGB runs on 12V with a four-pin connector, and the two are not interchangeable — putting a 5V ARGB plug onto a 12V RGB header can destroy the LEDs, and a 12V plug on a 5V header simply will not light up. Before ordering, check three things. First, whether your motherboard has a 5V three-pin ARGB header and how many; if it has none, you depend on the controller that ships with the kit, so confirm that the controller is actually included. Second, how the fan motors themselves are powered and controlled, because PWM fans want a four-pin header or a hub, and a board with only three-pin voltage-controlled headers will run them at a fixed speed. Third, the physical fit: fan thickness, the screw spacing of your case, and whether the mounts accept 120mm. If the page does not state the connector type or whether a control hub is bundled, ask the seller before buying.

Pros & cons

Pros

  • Addressable RGB gives per-LED effects rather than one solid colour
  • PWM control lets the board drop speed when the system is idle
  • Mirror-style ring spreads the light evenly across the frame
  • Sold as a kit, so the look and the wiring stay consistent

Cons

  • ARGB 5V and RGB 12V are not compatible, and a wrong plug can damage the LEDs
  • Without a 5V three-pin header you depend on the bundled controller
  • PWM speed control needs a four-pin header or a hub to work properly
  • Fan thickness and case mounts still have to be checked against your chassis
