About this product

This is a bare maker kit: an ESP32 DevKitC development board plus an NRF24L01 2.4GHz transceiver module, covering the two halves of many hobby wireless builds — a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capable controller, and a cheap point-to-point radio link. Typical projects are home sensor nodes, a self-made remote for lights or a gate, and wireless bridges between two boards. Nothing else is in the box, so plan on a USB data cable, a breadboard or Dupont wires, and a stable 3.3V supply. The NRF24L01 is a 3.3V module and is easily damaged if it sees 5V; a small capacitor across its supply pins is a common fix for unreliable range. You will also need the Arduino IDE or ESP-IDF installed to program the board.

Pros & cons

Pros

  • ESP32 covers Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and the NRF24L01 adds a low-cost 2.4GHz link between boards
  • A practical starting point for a self-built wireless sensor or a home-made remote control
  • Both parts are heavily documented, so example sketches and tutorials are easy to find

Cons

  • No USB cable, breadboard or power supply is included — all of that has to be bought separately
  • The NRF24L01 runs on 3.3V only and is easily damaged on 5V; a capacitor across the supply pins is often needed for a stable range
