About this product
The H21Pro is a handheld thermal imager from HIKMICRO, the thermal imaging arm of Hikvision. Its practical uses are the ones that need to see temperature without touching anything: tracing where underfloor heating pipes actually run, checking a wall or ceiling for leaks and insulation gaps, and scanning a circuit board for a component that is hotter than its neighbours. Readings are only as good as the setup, though. Emissivity has to be matched to the surface - bare metal reflects and reads low unless you apply tape or paint, while most painted surfaces and water are close to default - and focus and distance matter more than people expect on a small target. If you are buying for diagnostics rather than as a curiosity, tell the seller what you plan to inspect so the measurement range is the right one.

Pros & cons
Pros
- Finds heat without contact, which is the whole point for underfloor pipes, leaks and insulation gaps
- Scans a PCB quickly and shows which component runs hotter than its neighbours
- HIKMICRO is Hikvision's thermal brand, so service and accessories follow an established line
- Handheld format suits inspection work rather than a fixed installation
Cons
- A reading is only valid if emissivity is set for the surface - bare metal and shiny surfaces mislead unless prepared
- Focus and distance affect small targets more than most people expect, so practice before diagnosing
- It is not a substitute for a multimeter or a clamp meter when you need electrical values rather than heat
